Visiting Lincoln in Springfield

The museum is smack-dab in the middle of Springfield, IL. Nearby is Lincoln Village, with the preserved home where Lincoln lived while in Springfield. (Sorry, I didn’t visit that area this time. And I don’t know what happened to my photos from a few years ago.) Here’s the link to the website, as it might be the best place to learn about Lincoln.

Here’s a replica of what could have been the Lincoln home in Indiana. He lived there from age 7 to age 21 when the family moved to Illinois. After all, Illinois uses the slogan “Land of Lincoln!”

The Lincoln family moved into the White House in 1861 after he was elected president. Sadly, he never lived here again.

Many historians and presidential scholars consider Lincoln to be our greatest president. Typically, only George Washington competes or surpasses him. Washington presided over the birth of the nation, and Lincoln preserved the country, moving on from the abomination of holding humans as enslaved people.
