While here, be sure to visit Exploration Place in Wichita. Here, you’ll find displays, games for kids, and a “hats off” to the rich aviation history. I find Wichita has a “Southwest feel.” Seems more like Santa Fe or Albuquerque than eastern Kansas. And here’s a link back to “Love South Central Kansas!

Exploration Place in Wichita. A wall of
Tiles from an airplane’s “skin” make up the wall.

Join in the family fun here at Exploration Place! Here’s the link to the Exploration Place website. The place will soon have an addition named the EP2 Initiative. The guide told us about the upcoming attraction: a 1500-capacity riverfront amphitheater and a six-acre destination playscape. Here’s the link to an overview.

Superheros for Kids!

The first area we visited contained the Superhero exhibits. Our first assignment was to “find the code for the bat signal.” Some dastardly super-villain stole it! Although we found it, another assignment might have been to apprehend the super-villain! But first, identify which one! Was it The Joker? Or The Penguin? Or The Riddler? But we had to move on.

More Kid Stuff at Exploration Place in Wichita

Here’s a view of more places to visit. While it doesn’t show anyone having fun, you get the idea.

Follow along to the next one.

Medieval area at Exploration Place

Now, we’re getting into the medieval area. Have more fun exploring and playing in this area.

Our tour guide invited a couple from our group to act as Queen and King for the hour.

There’s a scale model train in there. I couldn’t get a good enough image of it, but it’s fun to watch.

Want to see a shop for my road trip photos? You can have them printed as wall art or puzzles. They also work on coffee mugs, t-shirts and more! So, take a look. Maybe you'll see something you will like!

Exploration Place in Wichita. The model area for a complete town.

This is an image of a historic church in south-central Kansas. We saw several of these in the small towns we visited. I didn’t include more images as this one depicts others in a very generic way.

Even the model cars, everything made to scale. And the model train in the background.

Heading

A part of the museum/exploration place/entertainment/education place displays Wichita’s ties to aviation. (I’m trying to describe the Exploration Place!)

As I already mentioned, Exploration Place is building additional facilities to provide fun for the entire family.

We are moving on to learn more about Wichita and all the attractions the city provides. Next up?

Classic Rock Recollection

“Wichita Lineman” by Glen Campbell

I am a lineman for the county
And I drive the main road
Searching in the sun for another overload.
I hear you singing in the wire.
